WordPress is the most popular way to build a website. Hostinger is one of the easiest and cheapest places to run it.

In this tutorial, you'll go from zero to a live WordPress site. Most people finish in under an hour. No coding needed.

What You'll Need

Step 1: Choose a Hostinger Plan

Go to Hostinger and look at the Web Hosting or WordPress Hosting plans.

๐Ÿ‘‰ Open Hostinger's plans

Quick guidance:

Pick a longer billing period for the lowest monthly price. You're covered by a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Step 2: Create Your Account and Pay

Sign up with email or Google. Complete payment.

At checkout, look at any pre-selected add-ons. Remove anything you don't need.

Step 3: Claim Your Domain

If your plan includes a free domain, hPanel will prompt you to claim it. Search for a name and pick one that's available.

Already own a domain elsewhere? Choose "use an existing domain" and Hostinger will show you the nameservers to point it to.

Tip: Domain changes can take a few hours to work everywhere. That's normal.

Step 4: Run the Setup Wizard

After you log in, Hostinger's onboarding wizard asks a few questions:

  1. What are you building? Choose "Create a website."
  2. Platform? Choose WordPress.
  3. Login details: Set your WordPress admin email and a strong password. Save them in a password manager.
  4. Theme: Pick a starter theme or skip โ€” you can change it later.

Hostinger then installs WordPress automatically. This takes a few minutes.

Step 5: Turn On SSL

SSL gives your site the padlock icon and "https://".

Hostinger usually installs free SSL automatically. To check, go to hPanel โ†’ Security โ†’ SSL. If it says "Active," you're good.

Step 6: Log In to WordPress

Visit yourdomain.com/wp-admin, or click "Edit website" / "WordPress admin" in hPanel.

You're now in the WordPress dashboard. This is where you'll build your site.

Step 7: Basic WordPress Settings

Spend five minutes here:

Step 8: Install a Theme

Go to Appearance โ†’ Themes โ†’ Add New. Lightweight free themes like Astra, Kadence, or GeneratePress are good choices.

Click Install, then Activate.

Step 9: Add Essential Plugins

Go to Plugins โ†’ Add New and install only what you need:

Fewer plugins = faster site.

Step 10: Create Your Core Pages

Go to Pages โ†’ Add New and create:

  1. Home
  2. About
  3. Contact
  4. Privacy Policy (WordPress has a template)

Then go to Settings โ†’ Reading and set your Home page as the front page.

Step 11: Set Up Backups

Check hPanel โ†’ Files โ†’ Backups to see what's included with your plan. Higher plans include daily backups. You can also add a free backup plugin like UpdraftPlus.

Step 12: Launch

Preview your site on desktop and phone. Fix any typos or broken links. Then share it.

You now have a live WordPress website.
